Our Commitment to Sustainability & EU Ecolabel

Since 2014, Le Negresco has proudly held the EU Ecolabel, a distinction that reflects our commitment to reducing environmental impact while maintaining the highest standards of quality. In 2024, we were awarded Green Key, which confirms our position in sustainable tourism.

Aligned with our values, these labels affirm our commitment to promoting French expertise and prioritising short supply chains.

None of these efforts would be meaningful without the participation of our guests. Throughout their stay, we invite them, along with our teams, to help limit our environmental impact through a series of eco-conscious practices.

With our dedicated Green Team, which brings together talents from across the hotel, we implement tangible actions focused on three key areas: protecting biodiversity, responsible purchasing and consumption, and ecological transition.

Protecting Biodiversity

Each day, we strive to safeguard the biodiversity that surrounds us. The survival of numerous species is directly tied to human activity, and therefore, environmental responsibility remains at the core of our decisions.

To celebrate our 110th anniversary, we partnered with EcoTree France to plant 210 trees, one for each permanent employee, in the Ajoux Forest in the Drôme region. Today, for every birth announced by a member of our team, we plant a tree. This gesture reflects our deep connection to nature and our commitment to building a sustainable future.

For each seasonal contract that is converted into a permanent position, we pledge to plant a coral in collaboration with the association Ocean Quest France. Through this initiative, we actively contribute to the conservation and restoration of French coral reefs. Damaged corals are recovered and replanted so that they can regenerate and grow.

To minimise pollutants, we exclusively utilise fully biodegradable, plant-based cleaning products, supplemented by natural methods.

Our gardens and green spaces are maintained solely with products approved for use in organic farming.

Each year, we sponsor three beehives to support the conservation of biodiversity.

Purchasing Policy

Before every purchase, we consider environmentally responsible alternatives as well as options for recycling and reusing products. When renewing equipment or renovating our spaces, we prioritise fittings that conserve water and natural resources. We strive to minimise the generation of unnecessary waste.

All our rooms are equipped with toiletry dispensers to reduce the use of individual packaging. Plastic is being gradually phased out and replaced with plant-based materials.

In the Kitchen

Executive Chef Virginie Basselot has built a trusted network of local producers, emphasising short supply chains. At the Michelin-starred restaurant Le Chantecler, she celebrates the art of fine dining with ingredients sourced from French artisans such as Les Demoiselles d’Anjou, and from renowned French manufacturers including Raynaud and Bernardaud. We consistently choose the most environmentally responsible options. This is why we are committed to using 100 per cent renewable energy. We also monitor our water consumption with the utmost diligence.

Living Heritage Company

Since 2015, Le Negresco has been part of the exclusive circle of institutions awarded the Living Heritage Company (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant) label.

This official distinction, created by the French government, honours companies that embody exceptional artisanal and industrial expertise. For Le Negresco, it serves as a tribute to the ongoing efforts to preserve the hotel’s unique history and to celebrate the many skills that breathe life into this esteemed institution.
