Eddy Maniez: Art as a Second Nature
Self-taught and driven by instinct, curiosity, and a deep connection to the living world, Eddy Maniez has spent over twenty years shaping a sculptural universe that is as tactile as it is vibrant. Once a forest ranger, he gradually moved away from the natural landscape to create an organic and poetic world inhabited by totemic animals and protective creatures.
Stemming from a system originally designed to protect delicate objects at sea, his art transforms a utilitarian concept into a unique visual language. Working freehand, he applies thousands of silicone spikes in a slow, intuitive motion, enhanced by the brilliance of Swarovski® crystals. Sharp to the eye and soft to the touch, his sculptures pulsate with a vibrant energy that instantly engages young imaginations.
Spikes and Wonders
This year, the Grand Edition welcomes children aged 4 to 13, expanding the range of the artistic experience in a spirit of transmission and intergenerational sharing.
From 2 to 5 pm, under the guidance of two Art Kids Company facilitators, budding artists will take over the Salon Masséna for a creative immersion into the world of Eddy Maniez, through playful workshops inspired by an aquatic theme.
A glimpse of the experience
A sculpture workshop inspired by Eddy’s signature creature — the octopus — where children will create their sparkling masterpieces using the distinctive materials and techniques that characterise his art.
Envisioning the ocean depths of Eddy’s world within a handcrafted aquarium box — a poetic, tactile microcosm of the sea.
A live workshop with Eddy Maniez himself, collaboratively creating a work of art alongside the children in the magnificent setting of Le Negresco.
Imagine, Create, Taste…
After two hours of artistic exploration, where imagination, movement, and materials converge, a moment of indulgence awaits. At 4 pm, Le Negresco’s Pastry Chef, Yann Le Douaron, presents a afternoon delicacy inspired by the world of Eddy Maniez — playful, textured, and delightfully unexpected. This sweet interlude is included in the experience, offered at a rate of €58.
Advance booking can be made via email until 4 July 2025.
