Hélène Capdevielle
GENERAL HOUSEKEEPER

Hélène Capdevielle, the General Housekeeper at Le Negresco, orchestrates the unseen, ensuring that standards of excellence are not merely maintained but seamlessly woven into every detail to enhance the guest experience. As a member of the management committee, she acts as the vital link between strategic vision and operational execution, bringing Le Negresco’s heritage to life while anchoring it within the framework of contemporary luxury.

From the beginning of her career, Hélène was naturally attracted to hospitality. She remarks, ‘It is, above all, the desire to delight.’ From the grand palaces of Paris to the prestigious residences of London, she pursued her path with steadfast determination. At the Plaza Athénée, she took on various roles, sharpening her view of the profession and developing a deep understanding of the art of service.

Her journey in London extended for nearly a decade, during which she played a vital role in reopening Raffles London at The OWO and advanced her career at the Bvlgari Hotel. There, she immersed herself in the principles of international hospitality and mastered the art of anticipatory service, discretion, and seamlessly managing guest expectations.

Rich in this dual heritage, Hélène settled on the French Riviera and, in July 2025, joined the flagship of the hotel industry: ‘Le Negresco is an iconic heritage institution with an aura beyond description. To work within this hotel is to contribute to something greater than oneself. It is to participate in the excellence of French savoir-faire. With its 130 unique rooms and suites, Le Negresco offers a truly fascinating field of exploration for a General Housekeeper.’

Often associated with the meticulous maintenance of rooms, public areas, and uniforms, the role extends beyond these duties. ‘It is about creating a sanctuary for guests, where they will spend most of their stay.’ This comprehensive position requires exceptional interdepartmental communication and multidisciplinary expertise: reducing the hotel’s environmental footprint, coordinating teams, managing guest requests and satisfaction, all while safeguarding the integrity of the guest journey. ‘That is what makes the profession so stimulating!’ and also highlights Hélène’s natural strengths: organisational skill, rigour, and attentive listening.

This attentiveness is also evident in her interactions with others. With her teams, Hélène imparts her expertise, recognizing that empathy and authentic connection are fundamental to shaping a positive dynamic. She trains, supports, and motivates her colleagues while establishing a clear framework that allows them to express themselves and demonstrate initiative.

Hélène’s perspective highlights the noble role of the General Housekeeper: ‘In the luxury industry, a smile and warm welcome are essential.’ This demanding philosophy enables the team to excel.

Between the light and the Mediterranean, Hélène has found peace in a dreamlike setting… However, like any true Niçoise, she hesitates to swim once September is over.
